North Bengal Science Centre


 To promote creativity and inspire young students to make innovations, thereby spreading a culture of innovation in the country, this centre has set up ‘Innovation Hub’ under the ‘Scheme for Promoting Innovation, Creativity and Engagement of Science (SPICES)’ approved by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. For effective implementation of the Innovation Hub, this Centre intends to engage on contractual basis on payment of consolidated monthly remuneration, Junior Mentors who have a passion for science projects and possess appropriate qualification and experience. The said engagements shall be made for North Bengal Science Centre, Siliguri.
The details of the required qualification and experience, terms of engagement, scope of work and remuneration are given hereunder. The applications should reach within 15 days from the date of publication of advertisement in newspapers. Preliminary screening of applications received within the due date will be done based on the applicants’ resume and final selection will be done through personal interviews of shortlisted candidates. Candidates called for interview will be required to produce all relevant testimonials for verification before the interview.

· Should have minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science / Engineering with good aptitude for hands-on activities and good experimental skills;


 · Good teaching / research / teaching / industry background

 · Passion for conducting investigative / innovative projects / model making / design activities / experimentation etc.; 

·  Preference to be given to retired professional and persons having labs / practical / industry experience


· Minimum one year duration, which will be extended on mutually agreed terms subject to performance; 

· Minimum 3 days in a week  including Saturdays & Sundays and during holidays / vacations when member students / members are available;

· They will be required to spend additional days with the students / members as and when required for the sake of progress of work / projects;

·  To guide and assist the students / members in carrying out the innovative / investigative projects in the Innovation Hub;

·  To attend to the Innovation Hub/Labs on weekends and during holidays / vacations when student/members are available as and when required;

·  To manage the day to day activities of Innovation Hub;

·  Monitoring and preparation of progress reports and upkeep of instruments / gadgets used to Innovation Lab activities;

·  Coordination with other institution / labs for conducting experiments, when required;

Rs.25,000/- per month.
